In Turkey, it has been agreed upon that 5MW windpower plants per kilometer can be established at heights of 50 meters from the ground where wind speeds are higher than 7.5m/s. In light of this agreement, a Windpower Energy Potential Atlas (REPA) was created using the medium-scaled quantitative weather prediction models and micro-scaled wind flow models to provide wind source information.
It was determined that Turkey's potential windpower is 48,000 MW.
Beyçelik Gestamp Renewables (old name FC Enerji Elektrik Üretim Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş.,) was established in August 2009 to operate in electricity production and trading fields.
